Coaching & Consulting
Executive Coaching
Coaching sets into motion a process of change – or compliments a change process already underway. For change to stick, we all need time to step back. Coaching conversations create space for reflections and insights that you may have been thinking about but haven’t yet articulated. In a coaching session, your attention can shift away from everyday pressures, creating the space needed to create your future.
Coaching is about moving beyond an identity that no longer serves us. It is about purposefully and intentionally fine-tuning ourselves and our leadership style and skills and then fully stepping into that new identity. This does not mean that we have to completely let go of what and who we have been in order to become something new. Instead, we create continuous progress toward our goals by discovering, reorganizing, gaining new skills, and mastering new behaviors.
Coaching is an equal & collaborative partnership between two individuals where the coach is focused on serving the client’s development. As a coach, I work with each client to co-create unique leadership goals, and then move towards those goals through curiosity, reflection and introspection to create forward momentum. Clients commit to between six and 12 one-hour coaching sessions over a three to 6-month period. Coaching can be done in person (if you are local to the Des Moines area), on the phone, or on webcam. Everything discussed is confidential.
Coaching is not mentoring, therapy, cheerleading, or consulting. In Coaching, our primary focus is on your future: identifying and achieving your vision. A coach leads from behind – as client, you choose the goal, the topic, the direction of each conversation.
If you are interested in learning more and/or are wondering if coaching is right for you at this time, I invite you to schedule time for us to talk. You can share your leadership hopes and goals, ask any questions, and we can determine if we are a good fit for each other.
Nonprofit Consulting
As a consultant, I lead from in-front; I am in support of you and your organization as I problem-solve, fix issues, offer advice and solutions, and play the role of expert. I do this best when I am working in collaboration with a leadership team or a group of invested professionals, and working on projects that involve people and how they interact with and support each other. I focus my consulting work on capacity building, culture setting, public speaking, team building and project based problem solving.
I consult on work as varied as each organization I support – for example:
- Project based work like building a complex on-call staffing schedule
- Creating and facilitating interactive trainings with staff across the country
- Engaged with leadership teams on systemic work like a communication analysis and plan to inform how cross-organizational teams interact with and support each other
- Preparing organizations for significant staff transitions
- Building and implementing staff onboarding systems
- Community based public speaking on topics like sustainable leadership, effective networking, and managing a connected team
If your organization has a need, I’d love to connect to see if I can be of service.
